Cooking Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients for Kofta:

Ingredients Quantity
Bottle gourd/ Lauki 1 kg
Gram flour/ Besan 1 Cup
Coriander leaves (Chopped) 1 Cup
Green chilli 3
Onion 1
Salt to taste

Ingredients For Curry:

Onion 1
Oil 1 cup
Tomato 1
Ginger-garlic paste 2 teaspoon
Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Fenugreek seeds 1/4 teaspoon

Method:

1. Wash and peel off the skin of bottle gourd and grate it as shown below in the image.

2. Heat the wok or kadhai with oil and add grated bottle gourd. Cook it on medium heat till the water is evaporated. Combine roasted flour, chopped green chilli and coriander leaves in a bowl and mix it well.

3. Heat another kadhai with oil and fry onion until light golden in color. Combine cooked bottle gourd, fried onion, salt and flour chilli mixture in a bowl, mix it well.

4. Make egg shaped kofta with this mixture. I have made around 20-22 kofta from this mixture. Heat the wok with oil and shallow fry the kofta on medium heat till golden in color from all the sides.

5. Drain it on tissue paper to absorbs extra oil and keep it in a plate for later use. Now we prepare curry. Blend onion, tomato and ginger-garlic to make fine paste. (I used my homemade ginger-garlic paste)

6. In the same pan add some more oil and temper with fenugreek seeds and add ground  paste, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala powder, coriander powder and 1/2 cup water. Cook the spices on slow heat till  oil shows separately.

7. Add one glass of water in a pan and boil it for 3-5 minutes. Switch off the flame and add fried kofta’s in a curry. Garnish with coriander leaves, Lauki kofta is ready, serve hot with chapattis, pulav or rice.

8. Enjoy!!
