Palak Ki Dal | Spinach Cooked With Yellow Lentils

Delicious Spinach daal cooked with yellow lentils. Enjoy this delicious, protein rich daal with hot rice and chapatti.

Ingredients Quantity
Spinach (chopped) 1/2 kg
Yellow split lentils / arhar daal/ tuvar dal 1 cup
Garlic 7 flakes
Green  Chillies (chopped) 5
Turmeric Powder 1/4 teaspoon
Salt To taste
Onion, sliced 1
Dry red Chilli 4
Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
Mustard oil  3 tablespoon
Asafoetida/ hing a pinch

Method:

1. Clean, wash and chop the spinach finely. Now wash the yellow lentils.

2. Take spinach and yellow lentils into a pressure cooker and add chopped garlic, green chilly, salt, two cup water and turmeric powder. Close the lid and pressure cook it on high heat for one whistle, then low the flame and cook for another 8-10 minutes till daals cooked properly. Let the pressure settles down, open cooker and mix it well with spatula to get the silky texture or can say for smoothness of the daal.

3. Heat the wok with oil and temper with cumin seeds, followed by onion, asafoetida and dry red chilly. Fry it till onions are dark golden in color. Switch off the flame, add this tempering to the daal. Mix it well, delicious daal is ready to serve. Serve hot with chapatti and rice.
