Potato Green Tehri | Rice Cooked With Green Spices

We have shared fastest to cook recipes several times on the blog, in fact we try to do it with every other recipe. But this green tehri takes fast cooking to a whole new level as this can be literally prepared in the shortest time. 

Plus there is no compromise on the taste, you will be amazed with the Deliciousness of it. Below is the recipe of green tehri with step by step pictures.

Serves: 4

Ingredients Quantity
Rice 3 cup
Potato 2
Water 4- 1/2 cup
Onion (chopped) 2
Tomato (chopped) 2
Green chilly 6-7
Coriander leaves 1 bunch
Garlic 10 cloves
Turmeric powder 1/ 4teaspoon
Salt to taste
Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
Black pepper 1/2 teaspoon
Cloves 5
Cardamom green 2
Cardamom brown 1
Cinnamon stick 1
Vegetable oil 2 tablespoon
Bay leaf 2
Peanut 2 tablespoon
Ghee/clarified butter 1 tablespoon
Cashew nuts 8
Talmakhana 2 tablespoon

Method:

1. Peel off the skin of potato and dice it. Clean, wash and soak the rice for half an jour before cooking.

2. Combine green chilly, garlic and coriander leaves in a grinder and grind it to make fine paste. (You can add small amount of water while grinding to make fine paste)

3. Heat the pressure cooker with oil and temper with cumin seeds, black pepper, cardamom green, cardamom brown, cloves, cinnamon stick, bay leaf and followed by onions. Fry onions till translucent.

4. Add ground green chilly paste and turmeric powder into cooker. Cook the spices on medium heat for 1 minutes. Add diced potato into the cooker.

5. Add tomato and salt. Cook it for another 2 minutes on medium flame. Add soaked rice along with water. (the amount of water will be 150% of the rice)

6. Pressure cook it on high heat for one whistle, then low the heat and cook for another 5 minutes. Switch off the flame and open cooker after 10 minutes. (so that the rice becomes more smooth)

7. Heat another wok with ghee and fry peanut, cashew nuts and talmakhana. I used this dry fruits to garnish the plate.
